“La Rumba” is the name given by Venezuelan- born, UK-raised, Román, to the Sheffield- based party and Latino collective which has spread its wings to Leeds, London, Barcelona, Madrid, Rio de Janeiro, the French Alps. Started in 2017 as an exploration into global dancefloor culture, La Rumba has hosted nearly as many legends in their respective scenes as cutting-edge selectors at the top of their game from Amadou & Mariam, Dele Sosimi and Nubiyan Twist on the live stage to Mr. Scruff, Mala, Channel One, Midland and Shanti Celeste in the club. Behind the decks, La Rumba join the dots between UK club culture and the Afro-Latin diaspora, fusing percussion-led club sounds with traditional dance genres from around the world.
